It’s the beginning of a new month and love is in the air with Valentine’s on the horizon. The birth flower of February, you’ll be forgiven for thinking it is the rose, actually it is the Violet.
Violets were first cultivated by the greeks. Named for their blue-purple colour they also come in yellow and creams. Today there are around 500 species of violet that belong to the genus Viola, pictured above is one of those.
The violet symbolizes modesty, faithfulness , humility and spiritual wisdom. A welcome pop of colour after the darkness of winter.
